Anj Fermor is an emerging artist and writer residing in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, on Treaty 7 Territory. They have provided art work, curation, and writing for exhibitions throughout Calgary. This past summer they participated in the New York University Summer Studio Residency and was a finalist for the 20th Annual RBC Painting Competition.
Using time-intensive processes, Fermor's work poeticizes mark making, technique, and language to reflect their interest in the intentional abstraction of communication and identity. Much of Fermor’s artwork and texts are the result of time spent alone: each act as a documentation of individuality, each offer a small gesture to the experience of solitude.
